Sensis, the Australian media, advertising and directory services business, has announced the launch of enhancements to its mobile directory service YellowMobile. The service has a new look and feel, featuring intuitive, helpful and cross-platform functionality, which, the company says, makes the mobile search experience simple, highly relevant and ultimately more useful.
YellowMobile is powered by mobilePeoples liquid downloadable mobile search solution and offers immediate access to the well-respected content of the Australian Yellow directory.
Customers of Australias leading mobile network, Telstra, will also benefit from auto-locate technologies made available through the Telstra network. This means when subscribers search for products or services using Yellow Mobile, the product will automatically recognise their location and search within the current vicinity.
Were confident that Yellow Mobile will take mobile search into the mainstream in Australia says Sebastian Baldwin, Group Manager, Sensis Wireless and Location. We are focusing hard on the end-user experience so that whether a mobile user is out in the bush, working in the city or relaxing on the beach, they will now be able to quickly and easily find what theyre looking for. More importantly, this is direct to peoples mobile phones and only takes a couple of clicks. The advance of mobile technologies, particularly mobile Internet, means that customers are expecting the same level of service via the mobile channel as on the Internet.”
The Australian mobile communications market is growing rapidly. Analyst Gartner predicts that 6.8 million mobile devices will be sold in the country during 2007 and that 21% of these will be internet-enabled Smartphones. The Australian Sunday Herald newspaper recently reported that the countrys adoption of wireless technologies is growing four-fold year on year.
