SGN Releases Mobile Game Promoting Animated Film

book-of-life-headerMobile games developer SGN is producing a mobile companion game for the upcoming animated film The Book of Life, set to be released this October.

The game, The Book of Life: Sugar Smash, is a casual match 3 style game similar to popular titles like Candy Crush Saga, and launches on the day of the films premiere. The games virtual worlds correspond with the films fantasy realms, which hero Manolo must explore, navigate and overcome.

Made in collaboration with Fox Digital Entertainment, the game marks SGNs first partnership with a major Hollywood studio. The game features audio from the films cast, which includes Channing Tatum, Zoe Saldana, Diego Luna and Ice Cube.

“The collaboration potential for mobile gaming and Hollywood entertainment is massive,” said Chris DeWolfe, CEO and founder of SGN. “We are thrilled to partner with Fox to develop a new avenue for The Book of Life. Additionally, through the appealing gameplay of The Book of Life: Sugar Smash we can expose a new audience to the film, and vice versa.”

“SGN has been a great partner in creating an enchanting game that maintains the integrity of the films storyline and unique style and tone,” said Rick Phillips, senior vice president at Fox Digital Entertainment. “With this game we are able to broaden the films universe, enabling the audience to interact with the story long after theyve left the theatre.”
