The iOS and Android app gives you an idea of how large your room would have to be to be able to accommodate the 50″ to 90″ flatscreens, identifying the optimum distance from your couch and enabling youto toggle between the sizes.

While the company points out that it is both easy and fun, the initial step to get the marker printed out (replace the black ink) makes you feel like you could just as easily go and find a tape measure. The screen capture function for sending your masterpiece to friends isn’t quite up to scratch, having just taken a load of snaps of the marker without capturing the AR image.

Don’t throw away your tape measure just yet, telly fans.
