Media discovery firm Shazam has launched Shazam 5.0, which it describes as a “major update” to the Shazam Free, Encore and (RED) apps on iPhone and iPod touch devices, adding that the update makes Shazam the world’s fastest content identification and discovery experience for music, TV and media advertising. With the update, music and Shazam-enabled TV shows and advertising can be identified in as little as one second.
The update also includes a newly-designed user interface, and improvements to sharing on social networks, including sharing content on Twitter and Facebook with a personal note or comment, from every tag result. Shazam 5.0 also adds additional language support, including Brazilian Portuguese, Korean and Spanish for S. America, bringing the number of languages supported by Shazam to 33. All versions of Shazam for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch come with unlimited tagging.
