Shazam, Taptu and Flirtomatic were among the winners at the Meffys Awards, which were announced at a gala dinner last night in London. Shazam took the Music Service award, while Taptu picked up the award for Content Discovery & Personalisation, and Flirtomatic took the Social Media award, its third Meffys win on the trot.
Before the ceremony, I spoke with Flirtomatic CEO Mark Curtis, and he told me was not expecting to win, not because of any politics around giving the award to the same company three years running, but simple because there were some other very good mobile social media services out there. In the event, Flirtomatic saw off competition from ebuddy, Fring, Nimbuzz and agency mobile for its Stuck by Swiftcover.com iphone app, to emerge triumphant.
