Sift, creator of an app which presents retailers marketing emails in an attractive browsable format, has closed a seed funding round of $540,000 (£340,741).
The app reformats the content of emails, and combines them into a more streamlined and navigation-friendly experience which enables users to buy products directly from the app.
The backing came from Tandem, the mobile accelerator program which gave the company its start, as well as new investors including Shawn Wang, co-founder of Baidu and Unity Ventures; Deep Nishar, SVP of product at LinkedIn; and Bhupen Shah, co-founder of Sling Media.
“We chose Sift based on the talent of their team and their vision to transform the shopping experience on the tablet, “ said Doug Renert, co-founding partner of Tandem. “And they’re off to a fast start, garnering a five-star app rating with impressive user engagement metrics.”
