Wireless communications manufacturer Sierra Wireless has brought its Open AT Application Framework M2M solution to 3G embedded modules, with the aim of making migration from 2G to 3G easier for the M2M market.
“We are delighted that Sierra Wireless’ application framework is now available to customers building M2M solutions for 3G networks,” says Ana Tavares-Lattibeaudiere, head of the GSMA’s Connected Living programme. “M2M is at the forefront of innovation in the mobile industry, and provides significant growth potential for the entire ecosystem. The introduction of the Open AT Application Framework for 3G services, and the advantages it provides in speeding up development timelines, will help accelerate growth in this market.”
The Open AT solution, which has been around for a decade, provides an operating system designed for M2M app development, the Sierra Wireless Developer Studio development environment, and a set of software libraries. The 3G solution has been built on Qualcomm chipset solutions, and the two companies worked together to integrate the framework with Qualcomm technology.
