[img_assist|nid=26389|title=|desc=|link=popup|align=left|width=150|height=84]Skype has announced that it has passed 100m users on Android – and launched version 4.0 of its app on the OS.
The update brings no major features, but does feature a overhaul of the UI, intended to make navigation faster and easier – primarily by reducing the number of steps involved in contacting someone.
“We didn’t just give Skype a makeover, we rebuilt it from the ground up to be faster and more reliable,” said Derek Snyder, Skypes head of mobile marketing. “We went beyond design and fundamentally changed the way Skype was built, focusing much of our effort on stability, performance, and load time.
“This release is just the beginning. We have more updates in the coming months and year ahead to make Skype for Android even more reliable, reachable, and mobile-friendly.”
