Sling Media, a wholly-owned subsidiary of EchoStar Corporation, has announced that SlingPlayer Mobile for BlackBerry Smartphones will be available for download as part of a public beta beginning 30 December 2008.
The company will make SlingPlayer Mobile for BlackBerrys available to Slingbox customers in the US, Canada and the UK at launch. SlingPlayer Mobile for BlackBerry will be available as a free download during the public beta period.
Six BlackBerry devices will be supported at launch: the BlackBerry Bold; the Curve 8900; the 8820; the Curve 8320; the Pearl Flip 8220; and the Pearl 8120
SlingPlayer Mobile requires BlackBerry device software 4.5 or greater. To see if your phone meets the minimum requirements, please visit http://mobile.slingmedia.com/go/bbcheck using your BlackBerrys browser. Sling will check the phone to let you know if it is supported, if it needs a device software upgrade (available from your operator), or if it is not supported at this time.
