Smartsheet acquires business chatbot startup Converse.AI

Smartsheet Converse.AIWork management platform Smartsheet has completed the acquisition of Converse.AI, a startup that enables companies to create bots for business automation. The financial details for the deal have not been disclosed.

Converse.AI’s Chatflow technology, launched in 2016, provides a workflow engine that enables businesses to build and manage bots without having to write any code. This will be integrated into the Smartsheet platform meaning the Bellevue, Washington-based company’s customers can create natural language experiences that can link to popular messaging platforms such as Slack, Workplace by Facebook, Salesforce, Google, Paypal, and more.

Under the acquisition, the entire Converse.AI team – including founders Tony Lucas and Gihan Munasinghe – will stay in place. In addition, its existing customer relationships and agreements will not suffer, while its platform will continue to be supported.
