Snapchat Updates UI for iOS Users

Snapchat has revamped the UI of its momentary messaging service on iOS to include new features like double-tap to reply, in-app profiles and improved tools for adding friends.

The app’s interface is a neat improvement and should impress another wave of users who can now swipe between a less cluttered camera screen, the inbox and their friends list. Tap on your friend’s face to see a few more details about them and double-tap on your message to go straight to the camera and reply. Android has not yet been updated.

Snapchat received $13.5m in funding back in February led by Benchmark Capital, so investors clearly believe the company has a bright future, and it has backing from the public, with more than 150m snaps sent every day. While the app doesnt have a price tag or any ads yet, the founders are working on using the platform for product teasers and flash sales.

More controversy…

Meanwhile, a survey of 1,345 UK users of Snapchat by VoucherCodesPro has found, unsurprisingly, that 54 per cent have received an ‘inappropriate picture’, 61 per cent had been sent pics with ‘inappropriate poses or gestures’, while 47 per cent had received nude pictures. A further 11 per cent claimed to have seen images of ‘criminal acts’, the survey found.

Rest assured nudists, these photos should never see the light of day as they are deleted from SnapChat’s servers after both messenger and recipient have had a quick look, although photos from the site were recently leaked onto Facebook.

Happy snapping!
