Snoop Dogg has entered the mobile world with an app that lets you Snoopify your photos with trademark paraphernalia linked to the hip hop star.
Created by 99centsbrains in collabotation with Snoops digital marketers, Cashmere Agency, and Upper Playground, users can upload or take a snap of themselves and then customise it with re-sizeable stickers designed by the artist Munk One.
After launching yesterday, the free iOS and Android app, which makes its money by offering extra sticker packs to users ranging from $0.99-$2.99, has already made it into the top 100 Overall grossing iOS apps of the day in eight countries. It is 55th and 69th highest grossing Overall in the UK and US today, 8th and 9th in the iOS Entertainment categories in each country.
Although the app has not been featured on the iTunes homepage, Snoop has been making the most of his more than 40m fans across his social platforms to spread the word. Just a couple of taps enables you to share your image across social networks. The app also quickly asks users if they would like to review the app or share it with friends.
The Snoopify app is part of a wider brand awareness campaign for the rap artist, who recently launched a new Reggae album and changed his name to Snoop Lion after converting to Rastafarianism.
“Now that everyone is heavy on social media sharing photos, I wanted to create an app that would allow my fans to add fun visuals to their photos and Snoopify themselves,” said Snoop Lion. “I’m bringing that new flavor to social media with this app, ya dig?!”
