Sonic Boom Launches iPhone Ringtone Maker

Mobile entertainment developer and publisher Sonic Boom has launched what it says is the first ringtone maker for the iPhone, ToneMaker with Voice. ToneMaker with Voice enables iPhone users to create original iPhone ringtones using a wide selection of music tracks in various genres, from hip-hop to country, while recording and mixing in their own voices on top of the tracks.
ToneMaker has been previously available exclusively on Verizon Wireless, where its success has made it the leading UGC ringtone application in the US, the company says. The design of the iPhone version has been optimized to take advantage of the larger touchscreen interface. Sonic Boom notes that personalized ringtones are growing overall as a share of the global mobile content market, even though ringtone sales continue to decline.
The iPhone is the ideal community for ToneMaker with Voice, as it is the leading edge of the mobile social media market for which we are developing new, innovative applications, says Soni Boom CEO, David Danon. The iPhones superior interface, its pristine audio and Apples innovative comittment to the greatest consumer music experience provide Sonic Boom with the ideal platform for creating and sharing unique, personalized ringtones.
According to Sonic Boom, ToneMaker with Voice is an easy-to-use mobile music mixing application that requires no music knowledge. A new mix is automatically created once a user chooses a music style. Using a four-track GUI on the touch-screen of the iPhone, users can change parts – drums, bass, lead, and rhythm – to create their personalized music and ringtone. Users can mix genres, change tempos, and control tracks, including celebrity loops from major artists, individually. The Producers Lounge community enables users to share, remix, and download other users tones, and rate them.
In a separate move, Sonic Boom has appointed Jason Gall as Vice President of Sales and products. Gall was previously the Senior Manager of Digital Media for Boost Mobile, and prior to that, served as Product Marketing Manager for ringers and call tones at Sprint Nextel from 2004-2006.
Sonic Boom has created some of the most hip, innovative applications and games for the mobile industry over the past five years, and I am thrilled to join their renowned group of mobile producers and marketers, says Gall. It is difficult to create successful original mobile content for carriers and for the web, and Sonic Boom is leading this charge.
