Sony Ericsson Competition Gives Peace a Chance

Sony Ericsson has announced the winners of its global mobile cameraphone photography competition, World View 2008. Now in its third year, World View enables anyone with a cameraphone to capture and submit their best images, with the chance to win one of two holidays.
The Experts Choice Award went to Marriane Nill from the Philippines for her photo Peace. Marrianes photo shows her Godson, Vincent, involuntarily forming the Peace sign just a couple of hours after he was born. The winning entry fought off competition from entrants in 27 countries, who submitted a total of 64,905 photos. She will receive a once in a life time photography trip for two, worth 10,000, to test out her cameraphone skills. The judging panel felt that the photo captured the essence of mobile photography, as it was spontaneous, humorous, memorable and communicated to a universal audience.
The two experts runners-up prizes went to Minghui Li from China for Switching a Bulb, and by and Riemer Dekker from the Netherlands for Going Upstairs. They will both receive a Sony Ericsson C905 Cyber-shot 8.1 megapixel front sliding mobile phone,
There was a new award this year, the Peoples Choice Award, which enabled the public to vote for their favourite cameraphone image entered into the competition. Gisela Caete from Argentina received the most votes for her photo, My best memories, and wins a photography trip worth 5,000.
