Sony Ericsson has announced the launch of its application submission site for developers. Applications can be submitted to Sony Ericssons PlayNow arena, as well as to the established application service, Fun & Downloads. Initially, developers for Java ME and Symbian OS are invited to become part of this ecosystem, which gives access to an installed base of over 200 million Sony Ericsson phone users. Later this year, the process will be extended to cover additional mobile software platforms.
There is huge consumer interest in applications that make communication a more personal and enhanced entertainment experience, says Christopher David, Head of Developer and Partner Engagement at Sony Ericsson. We recognise that it needs to be simple and attractive for developers to reach those consumers, and that there need to be established content channels through which to push creative applications. Our new application submission process addresses these needs, giving developers easy-to-use access to the Sony Ericsson PlayNow arena marketplace.
