US firm text2store has launched a price comparison service that compares special offers and promotions from online retailers and local branches of large chains, and then sends details of the best deal to shoppers handsets via SMS, or to their inbox via email. The service has launched initially in Chicago, but the company says it is in talks with large retailers and national chains including Sears and Walgreens.
To use the service, consumers sign up for free and enter what they are looking to get a deal on. text2store then searches for sales deals, clearances, discounts, rebates and promotions among online and local stores that have registered with the company. When it finds the best deal, text2store sends an SMS to the consumers handset with details of the price of the item, the stores location and phone number, and the date the offer expires. The consumer also receives a promotional mobile coupon to redeem against the offer.
Our system makes the special offers coupons available to consumers on their mobile phones says text2store Founder, Ola Ayeni. We do all the work of finding the best offers and deals. All the consumer has to do is go to the store and get them.
