Spice Televentures, a mobile ecosystem business group has announced the launch of its latest business venture, Mobisoc Technology Pvt. Ltd.
Mobisoc is led by Dilip Modi as Chairman, Lokesh Gupta as Chief Executive Officer and Vinish Kathuria as President, Strategy & Business Development. The company says its vision is to enable a rich Internet experience on all mobile phones.
Today more than half the airline tickets are being sold using the Internet, says Modi. We expect that in five years, more tickets would be booked on the mobile than the PC. We also expect consumption of email, news, classifieds, search (and) e-commerce on mobile to exceed that on any other medium. Mobile would become the preferred medium for consumption of (the) Internet.
Mobisoc says that its flagship product, Mitr, addresses the key issues impeding the development of compelling applications on mobile phones. It says that application development on mobile phones has been fragmented by the need to develop for varied platforms like Java, Symbian, Apple iPhone, Google Android, Blackberry, Windows Mobile etc. Mitr enables the write once run anywhere paradigm on mobile phones, thus saving developers from developing and testing their applications on different phones.
This would lead to (the) creation of many more rich and compelling applications, thereby driving consumers to use their mobiles to do more on the go, says Mobisco CEO, Lokesh Gupta.
The current release of Mitr supports more than 100 Java-enabled and Blackberry phones with support for other operating systems to be added shortly. Mobisoc has initially partnered with Naukri.com, Jeevansathi.com, MakeMyTrip.com, FinancialExpress.com and Sulekha.com to launch their mobile applications. The applications are accessible from wap.mobisoc.com or by sending a text to 56300 with the relevant keyword: NAUKRI, JS, MMT, FE or SULEKHA).
