SpinVox says that its Voicemail-to-Text service is finding an enthusiastic audience among the hard of hearing.
Rather than having to dial in and listen to the details of each message, which SpinVox notes excludes many of the deaf and hard of hearing from using voicemail, the spoken content of the message is automatically converted to text and sent to them as a text message or email.
In Europe, SpinVox is working with network providers such as Vodafone Spain, to ensure that the service is promoted to the deaf and hard-of-hearing. It is also working with leading charities in the field to offer promotional packages and free trials.
So often, new services in telecommunications enhance the lifestyles of the majority of the population but serve to exclude others, says SpinVox CEO, Christina Domecq. Voice-to-text conversion bucks this trend as its a service that delivers for the hearing and hearing-impaired alike, truly levelling the playing field for all.
