SpinVox in Skype Tie-up

Voice-to-Screen messaging company SpinVox has signed a contract with Skype to offer the SpinVox voice-to-text service for its Internet communication software. The service will be available in English, Spanish, French and German at launch.
The SpinVox service will allow Skype users to have all their voice messages converted and sent directly to their mobiles as an SMS when they are not at their PC. The callers Skype ID, when available, will be shown and what they said converted into text. Skype users will have immediate access to all their messages on-the-move, giving callers the confidence that their messages can be seen quickly, whether the Skype user is online or not.
SpinVox reaches any mobile phone, so Skype users will not need to download new software onto their phone to benefit from the voice-to-text messaging service.
This is a powerful example of how SpinVox is enabling leading Web 2.0 services to extend their reach from PC to mobile says SpinVox CEO and Co-founder Christina Domecq. Its also proof of our ability to integrate our technology with any existing service platform, whether fixed-line, cable or wireless and now internet calling, with market leaders Skype. The global nature of both Skype and SpinVox services makes for a natural and exciting partnership that will deliver a simpler, more effective communication experience for both the caller and the Skype user receiving a message.
The SpinVox range of Voice-to-Screen products convert any voice message into text and deliver it to any screen, including mobile, PC, BlackBerry or PDA. The deal with Skype extends the companys reach from the carrier and wireless worlds into the world of Internet calling.
Other recent SpinVox deals include the launch of its voicemail-to-text service with North American carriers, and its launch with leading blog provider Six Apart to provide 12 million LiveJournal customers with voice-powered blogging. SpinVox says it will announce at least 12 carrier and Internet deals and reach a potential 6 million subscribers by the end of 2007.
