Spotify is nearing the production of its first hardware product

Daniel Ek SpotifySpotify looks like it could be making a move into hardware development, if a group of recent job listings from the company are anything to go by.

The music streaming platform is looking for a ‘operations manager – hardware product’, a ‘senior project manager hardware production’, and a ‘project manager hardware production & engineering’. All three jobs, which were first spotted by MusicAlly, are based in Stockholm, Sweden.

“Spotify is on its way to creating its first physical products and setting up an operational organisation for manufacturing, supply chain, sales & marketing,” the job listing for operations manager reads. “We are looking for a passionate and seasoned operations manager that will contribute in the creation of innovative Spotify experiences via connected hardware.”

The job listings are another clear sign that Spotify will launch some sort of hardware at some point. Speculation came to the fore when the company had a listing for a senior product manager back in April 2017. Back then, it said it was looking for somebody to lead an initiative in developing a piece of hardware that would be “category defining” like the Pebble Watch, Amazon Echo, and Snap Spectacles.
