Spotify launches its second-ever app, aimed at artists

Spotify has made its second-ever app, bringing the Spotify for Artists service to iOS.

As the name suggests, the app is intended for musicians on the streaming service and their teams.

It can be used to manage the artists profile, from updating a bio to adding a song to their artists pick sections, similar to a social media app. More impressive are the analytics tool, which offer real-time measurement of listens on a given track or album and tools for learning more about their fans. The app offers data on age, gender, location and which other artists theyre listening to.

Spotify has been pushing its data offering a lot this year, with an ad campaign themed around listening habits, and tools like Spotify.me, which offers users a fairly thorough breakdown of their listening habits – a taste of the profile-led data that it offers to advertisers.
