Spreaker has launched its audio broadcasting app on Android. The app enables users to broadcast live over the internet using the existing microphone in their smartphone, or to record audio to be distributed later as a podcast. Recordings can also be edited and users can add music and sound effects from a library of licensed content.
“Sometimes just a text status update on Facebook or Twitter is not enough, and video often requires too much production, whereas a live audio update on Facebook or Twitter tells a much more colorful story,” said Francesco Baschieri, Spreaker founder and CEO. “Now we can extend our app to millions more phones and devices using Android.”
Spreaker is available in an ad-supported free version, or as a premium service with more storage and bandwidth – 30 times more than Soundcloud – and without ads.
