Starhome, which provides roaming services and converged solutions, has launched a solution which enables operators to prevent leakage of roamers who are looking for VoIP alternatives to roaming phone costs. Starhomes Mobile2IP solution allows operators to provide end users with the ability to simply connect their laptop to any IP network and make and receive mobile calls over VoIP using their own MSISDN (Mobile Station Integrated Services Digital Network) number.
The solution is part of Starhomes move towards the next generation of roaming – Roaming 2.0 – and allows users of different devices to route incoming calls according to the zone they are in (IP/GSM) and their preferences – to their IP client, GSM phone or both. A user in a hotspot, for example, can choose to receive a call on either their laptop or through their mobile device using the same identity.
The solution is based on SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) technology and does not require an additional billing interface. In addition, says Starhome, the fact that the operators brand and logo are embedded on subscribers laptops strengthens customer relationships and operator brand identity.
“This new solution to demonstrates our position as the leader of Roaming 2.0 solutions for mobile operators” says Starhome VP, Marketing Orly Nesher. “The converged solution creates an adhesiveness between IP and mobile networks which prevents user from churning to competitive technologies.”
