The analyst, Chetan Sharma, has released the 2012 edition of its Global Mobile Market Update.
The report reveals that total global mobile revenues will hit $1.5 trillion (£924bn) in 2012, over 2 per cent of Global GDP. The top 10 operators control 42 per cent of global data mobile revenues. Mobile services revenue exceeded $1 trillion for the first time in 2011, and the number of mobile operators with more than $1 billion in yearly data revenues will touch 50 in 2012.
Total global mobile data revenues went past $300bnin 2011, with non-messaging data now accounting for 53 per cent of global mobile data revenues.

Total global subscriptions will exceed 7bn by early 2013.  China already exceeds 1bn, while India stands at 950m. China and India represent 27 per cent of subscriptions, but only 12 per cent of global service revenues, while the US represents only 6 per cent of subscriptions, but 21 per cent of  global service revenues, 26 per cent of data revenues, and 27 per cent of global CAPEX.

Mobile Devices are now exceeding traditional computers in unit sales and revenue. 70 per cent of mobile device sales in the US are now smartphones, and the device replacement cycle is shrinking. Samsung and Apple account for 50 per cent of the smartphone unit share, and 90 per cent of the profit share.

The report also notes that Tablets, in particular the iPad, have created a new computing paradigm that is having a significant impact on commerce, content consumption, and developer investments. It says that Apple will continue to dominate the segment, with Amazon, ZTE and Huawei chipping away at the sub-$200 tier.
