STEAK Serves Up GreenTomatoCars Multichannel Site

GreenTomatoCars, the London-based environmentally friendly cab service, has redesigned its website for improved mobile compatibility. Built in three months by STEAK, the site offers users a tailored user experience across desktop, tablet and mobile.

The search specialist firm used its bespoke CSS3 and HTML5 framework, based upon Twitter Bootstrap, along with JQuery and server side user agent detection to ensure an optimum experience across channels.

“We used a variety of tools to test cross device and platform compatibility including emulators and physical devices. Testing on real devices was not only key for the mobile aesthetics execution but also for gauging possible UX issues,” said Scott Sinclair, STEAK’s head of creative and development. “The end result is a solid desktop, mobile and tablet execution which, due to its modular build, will allow us to continually monitor and enhance the user experience cross device using A/B testing and other test and learn methods.”

In July, GreenTomatoCars started to provide free wi-fi for passengers in its fleet of cars, which include vehicles like the Toyota Prius and bio-diesel people-carriers, to reduce its environmental impact.
