Digital solutions provider StepLeader is spinning off from parent company CBC New Media Group in order, the company says, to develop opportunities in the mobile and Smart TV space.
“A spin-off is the right move strategically for our company. We have a reputation for being first to the broadcast market in many categories and it’s our goal to continue with this innovative focus,” commented Brian Handly, StepLeader CEO. “We see tremendous potential in the mobile and Smart TV markets and want to be well-positioned structurally, and from a product development standpoint, to support the growing needs of our partners in these rapidly changing areas.”
The announcement follows a quarter of growth for StepLeaders, with its ad management side seeing 128 growth in daily impressions, and 24 per cent growth in national ad revenue. Its partners experienced a 49 per cent increase in Q1, 2012, in the number of unique users on iOS and Android devices, and a 51 per cent rise in VOD (Video On Demand) views.
The company says it intends to double its number of staff in 2012, as it continues to grow.
