Subway Launches Mobile Payments

Subway has launched a cloud-based mobile wallet app where it will provide mobile payments, offers and loyalty capabilities to its customers.

The company is using a white-label solution provided by Paydiant, which uses QR codes rather than NFC to enable transactions, so will not require any new POS infrastructure. The app will launch before the end of the year.

In the UK, Subway already offers a loyalty app for its Subcard that works across iOS, Android, BlackBerry and even Java.

This will be the companys first attempt at taking mobile payments.
