SumUp Offers mPayments to Stopcocks Women Plumbers

The puntastic national female plumbers’ organisation, Stopcocks, has signed a partnership with SumUp to enable its members to accept mobile card paments from their customers.

SumUp offers its customers a free card reader that works with an iOS or Android app. It has been on offer in the UK, Germany, Ireland and Austria since August last year. It also became available in the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, France, Portugal and Belgium at the end of 2012.

The company usually has a 2.75 per cent transaction fee but all of the profits made from Stopcocks until 1 October 2013 will be donated to the Clean Water Kithoka project in Kenya. Stopcocks is also holding a fundraiser for the project at the Safari Club in Finchley on 29 June 2013. Hattie Hasan, CEO of Stopcocks Women Plumbers, said: “The trade is very much outdated when it comes to female plumbers, so for us to make a good and lasting impression we have to ensure we offer excellent customer service – this includes providing payment solutions that are most convenient for our customers.

“We’re a small business and need flexibility, so traditional card terminals can’t give us what we need. When it comes to customers paying for our members’ services and trainees paying for our plumbing trainee scheme, they are often expected to part with large amounts of money, so security, transparency and simplicity are of great importance.”
