SuperAwesome has acquired kids-only social app PopJam from Mind Candy, creator of Moshi Monsters, for an undisclosed sum.
Commonly referred to as Instagram for kids, PopJam is a mobile-only social platform where children can share their photos and drawings. According to Mind Candy, the app has an average engagement time of 20 minutes per session.
“If Nickelodeon was created today, it would look like PopJam, so we’re incredibly excited to make it a core part of SuperAwesome,” said CEO Dylan Collins. “Mobile and social are two of the toughest areas for brands around the world in the kids sector, and we can now provide an amazing platform to solve this challenge.”
SuperAwesome runs a child-safe ad network and marketing platform, which reaches around 250m kids each month. It will integrate PopJam in order to offer branded content opportunities to advertisers.
