Sydney Shopping Mall Deploys Zinwave

Mobile network technology company Zinwave has provided an indoor signal solution for a flagship shopping mall in Sydney, Australia.

The company has provided its Zinwave 3000 system to the Westfield complex in Sydney, the retail component of which is due to open in December. The completed complex will have 330 stores and offer over 88,000 square metres of retail floorspace. The Zinwave system will guarantee good mobile coverage within the mall for shoppers wishing to use their phones to research purchases, compare prices, or share information about deals and offers with friends via social networks or text.

The Zinwave 3000 system will provide in-building coverage for all the major carriers – Telstra, Optus and Vodafone – and will cover WCDMA at 850MHz, UMTS at 2,100MHz, DCS at 1,800MHz. The solution will also provide a PMR (Private Mobile Radio) system for the mall staff.

“This was an exciting, high-profile project for us, and an ideal setting to showcase Zinwaves unique 3000 system,” says Colin Abrey, president of Zinwave International. “Our 3000 DAS provided a unique solution that had the ability to carry all major operators and also provide PMR services all on one hardware layer. The system offers ease of installation and scalability, with the ability to add in services in the future, with no additional hardware cost.”

The Westfield implementation was carried out by Zinwave partner RFI, a distributor of wireless infrastructure products.

“RFI has been involved in many high profile roll-outs, and we are particularly proud of the results achieved in this Westfield project using the Zinwave 3000 system in-building coverage solution. This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the Zinwave product in a high profile, multi-service environment,” says Steve Jacques, Managing Director of RFI.
