Taiwan Mobile Selects Comverse

Comverse, which supplies software and systems enabling multimedia enhanced communication and billing services, has revealed that Taiwan Mobile Co., Taiwans largest mobile operator, with more than 6.5 million subscribers, has deployed Comverse MMSC (Multimedia Messaging Service Centre) to upgrade and consolidate its multimedia messaging (MMS) service in Taiwan.
Comverse MMSC provides person-to-person and application-to-person multimedia messaging and, says Comverse, supports a broad variety of innovative multimedia applications. These include user-generated content, mobile advertising, management and sharing of messages, media elements and more.
Our experience of working with multiple MMSCs from Comverse as well as other companies put us at a unique vantage point to evaluate available offerings and choose the best system for us, says Charles Lin, Director of TWMs Product Technology Division. We selected Comverse MMSC as our MMS solution for reasons such as capacity, features, interoperability, user experience, and flexibility.
TWM recently consolidated its three portfolio operators – Taiwan Cellular Corporation, TransAsia Telecommunications and Mobitai Communications – each of which had its own MMS solution from a different vendor, including one from Comverse. TWM has replaced the three-MMSC paradigm with one Comverse MMS solution in order to enhance the MMS service offering throughout the network and benefit from operational efficiencies and service advantages.
This MMSC upgrade is part of TWMs InSight IP-based and IMS-ready Open Services Environment, says Comverse APAC President, Eitan Achlow. It will move TWM forward towards realising their vision of optimising the customer experience with robust high-capacity performance, rich content offerings, traffic-generating applications and campaigns, greater personalisation, and a broad range of enhanced messaging options.
