Target is inviting third-party retailers to its website

Target has announced the development of Target + (Target Plus), a new initiative that will bring products from third-party sellers to the Target website, while still enabling customers to take advantage of Target perks. The assortment of new products will be added to popular shopping categories such as home, toys, electronics, and sporting goods.

“Target + provides guests with a curated selection of product choices that enhance our existing assortment, with the perks they enjoy from Target, like five per cent off with a Target Redcard, free shipping and easy in-store returns,” said Rick Gomez, Target’s chief marketing officer and digital officer. “Guests look to Target for great products. With Target +, we aim to give them easy access to even more great products by partnering with best-in-class specialty and national brands that will help guests save and get more done in just one stop to Target.com.”

Third-party sellers are being carefully chosen for Target + and must be invited to join the initiative. Their products will eventually be integrated onto Target.com, but currently the new program is in its earliest stages. According to CNBC, Mizuno sneakers is confirmed to be a third-party brand on Target +.

“We see this as a long-term opportunity to drive profitable growth,” said Gomez. “This is intended to be a very curated and select group of products and brands… We are reaching out to the brands we want.”
