Nokia is risking the wrath of cab drivers up and down the country by launching a fleet of free black cabs across London, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow for a week from 26 May. The move is designed to celebrate the fact that Nokias OVI Maps service is now free to everyone, everywhere. Members of the public that spot and flag down one of the Nokia Ovi Maps cabs will get their journey completely free of charge throughout the week.
Each cab is installed with a Nokia X6 device, preloaded with the OVI Maps satnav service, giving passengers the chance to try the service out for themselves and track their journey using its guided turn-by-turn drive voice navigation system.
OVI Maps comes with voice-guided turn-by-turn drive & walk navigation and is available on a wide range of Nokia devices. It offers navigable maps for over 70 countries worldwide. OVI Maps also features Nokia’s Own Voice application, which allows users to record any voice they would like to guide them to their destination.
