Broadcasting company Turner Broadcasting has signed a deal with TeePee Games, a social network for discovering new games.
Turner, the company behind such channels as Cartoon Network and TNT (as well as kids brands such as Ben10 and Scooby Doo), is to back the development of TeePees games-discovery platform.
TeePee Games is currently in open beta. It is an online discovery platform for games fans – players sign up with a profile, and the service allows them to access the games that are best suited to their preferences. The aim is to cut through the thousands of apps on the popular app stores, says the company.
The deal is Turner Europes second such investment within months, as the company also recently backed celebrity news site Starlounge.
“By investing in TeePee Games, Turner will strengthen its already robust digital gaming distribution and provide consumers with new ways of discovering and interacting with its games and characters on popular social networks like Facebook,” says Casey Harwood, SVP of Turner Broadcasting Systems Europe.
Tony Pearce, CEO and co-founder of TeePee Games, says Turner shares his companys visions and ambitions for mobile gaming. “We are at the start of a once-in-a-generation opportunity to transform the way people of all ages discover digital games across smartphones, social networks and the web,” he says.
