TekTrak, a mobile tracking and security app, has won the Vator Splash LA Award for Best Technology Startup. The competition recognises entrepreneurs, founders and CEOs of innovative and emerging technology startups in the Los Angeles area.
TekTraks mobile application uses the Assisted GPS hardware found inside many smartphones to provide users with the ability to track the location of their phone, to an accuracy of a few feet via the TekTrak website. The app locates the phone, tracks its previous locations, rings the handset, locks the phone, or wipes any sensitive data – all from any web browser. The solution is also able to the last location before the phones battery ran out.
There are two versions of the app – TekTrak Pro, which costs £2.99 or $4.99, and a free version which allows two uses before you need to upgrade.
“Were thrilled that TekTrak was picked as the winner of Vator Splash LA. Its an honour to compete with cutting edge startups and we look forward to continuing to build our brand and enhance our product offering,” says Arik Waldman, CEO of TekTrak.
The company won the award after making a 10-strong shortlist, and pitching their business to the judges in a three-minute presentation.
The app is available for iOS and Android, although the Android version is only available on Samsung Apps at this time.
