Mformation Technologies has revealed that Telefnica Mobile Business in Spain is using its device management technology to provide advanced enterprise mobile management as a service to its business customers. Enterprises obtain advanced mobile device management from Telefnica through a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model. The solution was rolled out to Spanish enterprises during 2008 and is now being used by many of Telefnicas enterprise customers.
In the enterprise environment, where increasingly sophisticated mobile devices and applications are becoming commonplace, the need for advanced device management capabilities is compelling, says Mformations CEO Mark Edwards. We have been working closely with Telefnica to provide a solution that supports the demands of their enterprise customers, and we are excited to be working with Telefnica to support their focus on mobilizing enterprise data services and improving the overall mobile experience of their enterprise customers.
Mformations Enterprise Manager enables Telefnica to provide its enterprise customers with a secure, customized mobile management environment, giving its IT managers direct control and full visibility of the mobile devices used by the companys employees. The solution works across a broad range of mobile devices, from feature phones to the latest smart mobile devices, meeting the IT requirement to manage all of the different handset platforms used today in the enterprise.
Mformation adds that the solution enables Telefnicas enterprise customers to manage all phases of the mobile device and application lifecycle, and deliver the full benefits of mobile technology to their workforces. These enterprise mobile device management capabilities provide enterprise IT departments with control and visibility over their mobile devices and applications, underpinning the accelerated mobilisation of enterprise workers.
The solution enables enterprises to:
- Diagnose device and service problems on employee devices in real time, over the air.
- Set up, distribute, manage and update mobile applications and services to employee devices over the air.
- Maintain an inventory of all deployed employee devices, including status and related configuration information.
- Enforce, update and monitor corporate security and access policies implemented on employee mobile devices.
- Secure employee mobile devices and the data stored on them or on removable storage media.
- Create and enforce corporate and IT policies, from password policies to employee usage of corporate applications.
- Tailor policies to fit organizational roles and responsibilities (e.g., administration).
- Provision and configure employee data devices remotely.
Finally, says Mformation, the solution means that Telefnicas enterprise customers benefit from the sophisticated and secure mobile management environment offered to them as a service without having to divert resources from their core business or incur the additional cost and effort of deploying and supporting an in-house solution.
