Meanwhile, internally, the telecoms company will tap Google Cloud’s technologies to advance its digital transformation efforts via its “Go to Cloud” program in a bid to improve IT systems, accelerate application deployment times and optimise infrastructure.

According to the company, it has already seen significant improvements in its operational systems with the partnership, and the company will continue to explore projects in areas such as generative AI, machine learning operations, accelerated computing infrastructure for AI, Web3, blockchain, quantum computing, and edge computing.

Google Cloud EMEA, President, Tara Brady, said:” Telefónica’s ambition and commitment to innovation is inspiring. Our renewed and expanded partnership is a testament to the shared vision and trust we’ve built together.

“We are incredibly excited about the potential of this collaboration to drive innovation, accelerate digital transformation, and create lasting value for Telefónica and its customers.”

Telefonica Tech will also be available across businesses in Spain, as well as offering a range of Google Cloud services.

Telefònica Global CTIO, Enrique Blanco, added: “This extension of the partnership reinforces Google Cloud as a key partner for Telefónica in the coming years. Many of our new services and processes will be based on the innovation, agility, scalability and flexibility that Google Cloud provides to us.”
