Telegraph and Trinity Mirror Blocking the Ad Blockers

Ad-block-Plus.pngUK publishers Trinity Mirror and Telegraph Media Group have started trialling technology that locks out visitors using an ad blockers.

Trinity Mirror has used the site of the Birmingham Mail regional newspaper as a testing ground over the past month, while the Telegraph has been trying it out on randomly-selected visitors to its flagship title for six weeks, according to Digiday.

In both cases, users are being shown messages instructing them to either whitelist the site or disable their ad blocker entirely if they want to access content. While neither publisher is disclosing any hard figures, the Telegraph reports positive results from its trial.
