Software and IT services company Telesens has introduced a mobile registration system for the 2011 ING New York City Marathon, which is staged in November each year by the New York Road Runners.
In previous years, runners wishing to take part in the marathon have been able to register using a web portal developed by Telesens and its American partner, Avologic. This year, for the first time, they can register via mobile.
Registration for the 2011 marathon began just a few days after this year’s race, and according to Telesens, the number of participants registered during the first few hours was several times more than during the corresponding period the previous year.
Mobile registration is the latest initiative from Telesens to improve the quality of communications between the hundreds of thousands of people involved in the event, including participants, spectators, and sponsors. Telesens’ solutions include race registration systems, notification systems, e-stores, lotteries, and a charity donation system that aims to help children worldwide.
