Video-on-demand service Telly has partnered with global mobile solutions company SLA Mobile to help them monetise their network and data assets.
Telly enables users to discover video content via social recommendations, and has recently launched its premium subscription service Telly Plus in 23 countries in the Middle East and Africa, as well as unveiling distribution deals with Sony Pictures Television and Miramax. The Telly Plus service enables users to view content via mobile devices while sharing and discovering videos with their friends.
The partnership with SLA Mobile will enable subscribers to securely purchase video-on-demand content using Direct Operator Billing via their mobile phones. It is just the first in a series of new services the two companies aim to launch this year.
“We are excited to be working with SLA Mobile as our mobile payments solutions provider,” said Mo Al Adham, CEO of Telly. “SLA Mobiles connection with global mobile operators such as Zain Group provide us with the ability to connect to millions of mobile subscribers in the Middle East and Africa.
“We are initially launching the service with Zain Kuwait and will be expanding its reach within the next few months. The mobile payment service will make it even easier for consumers to access Tellys full range of content offerings through a subscription-based plan on their mobile device.”
Nic Stirk, CEO at SLA Mobile added, “SLA Mobile has seen considerable growth in demand from companies like Telly who are seeking a simple and secure mobile payment solution for their customers. Our partnership with Telly is focused on working with their team to develop initiatives to support their business and expand their offerings, and Direct Operator Billing is just one of the innovative API services we can provide through our API Management platform.”
