Mobile phone subscribers at Australian telco Telstra can now get all their messages, including voicemail, picture messaging, text messaging, email and multimedia communications, in one secure, integrated mailbox accessible from both their mobile handset and computer.
With its launch of Comverse HUB Converged Messaging (locally branded MyConnect), Telstra has become the first operator on the continent to offer a converged web-based messaging inbox containing all mobile, landline and email messages. Users can easily view, manage, compose and send the many kinds of messages from this one location. An archive facility provides plenty of room to store and organise messages.
Removing the barriers that artificially separated the messages from the different services frees our users to handle their messaging in the most efficient way from any convenient device, says Michael Rocca, Telstra Networks and Services GMD.
Telstra users now can, for example, check and send email on their mobile phones while on the move and can handle SMS, MMS and voicemail messages while sitting at a PC at home or at the office.
Our messaging offering matches the way people live and enables them to use their time more efficiently, says Rocca.
In addition to boosting user satisfaction and loyalty, Comverse says that Converged Messaging can increase usage and revenue, enhance the operators web presence and branding strength, and increase traffic on the operators portal, which can lead to additional revenue opportunities by providing a valuable platform for marketing and promoting operator services.
