Tesco Direct Launches Mobile Site

Tesco Direct has launched a transactional mobile site. The company says the site is the first step in its strategy to expand and develop mobile websites for core Tesco sites, with others to follow.

Mobile traffic to the Tesco Direct website has grown steadily, with a 300 per cent growth in mobile visitors over the last year. Already, the company says, over half a million visitors each month are using their mobile phones to search and shop on the website. The mobile site is designed to make it easier for customers to shop at Tesco Direct via their phone.

The site has been created by Tesco’s web development team, in partnership with Usablenet. It features streamlined navigation, rendered specifically for mobile screens. Using the site, customers can sign into or register for a Tesco Direct account; search through the complete Tesco Direct product range; read all product features; compare prices; add products to the shopping basket; explore delivery options and book a delivery slot; add or remove products from an existing order; and check out and pay.

“Busy, time-poor people are constantly seeking ways to utilise their time more effectively,” says Tesco.com CMO, Ian Crook. “Customers can shop, search, and compare prices easily on Tesco Direct from wherever they are – on the bus, on the street or even while shopping in a store.”

Tesco Direct is the home of Tesco’s range of all non-food items including electrical appliances, home furnishings, gifts and more. You can access the Tesco Direct mobile site at www.tesco.com/direct from any smartphone.
