Tesco has entered the tablet market with a discreetly ‘T’ branded Android device that has a 7 inch screen, 1.5GHz quad-core processor and 16GB of memory.
The £119 price tag and specs mean it matches up pretty favourably to the likes of Google’s Nexus 7, although the Hudl only comes with wi-fi and not a 3G option. It is more than £100 cheaper than Apples 16GB iPad Mini, but a tablet made by a supermarket could lack the prestige associated with devices made by the UKs coolest brand.
The tablet, which comes in four colours, goes on sale in store and online from 30 September. Tesco Clubcard holders can use their points to get money off the device, as well as getting free access to Clubcard TV.
Tesco says it has worked with a manufacturing partner in China to produce the tablet, which also makes products for Microsoft, HP, Blackberry and Sony.
