Goombart Tech has launched its TexTango app for BlackBerry and Android that pays users for sending text messages adorned with ads. Texters will have to be pretty prolific before they see any cash, however – until youve sent 3,000 messages, you are only entered into a monthly $100 prize draw. Once youve passed 3,000 messages though, you get paid for every text you send. The app also advertises charity organisations for free, and donates half a US cent for every charity-supporting text sent via its platform.
“TexTango simply pays you to do what youre already doing everyday – texting – while supporting your favourite charity,” says Russell McHugh, TexTangos SVP of business development. “We have evolved into a community-based mobile marketing platform, enabling members to contribute funds to their favourite charities.”
Users are paid via a special TexTango pre-paid Visa card.
The TexTango mobile app is currently available for BlackBerry (version 4.7 and above) and Android (version 2.1 and above) devices. The company says an iPhone version is in development.
