The South of England Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church (SEC SDA) has rolled out mobile donations to its congregation of 223 churches.
A partnership with mobile payments service MobiCash has enabled SEC SDA’s approximately 21,000 members to donate using QR codes, online or from within the MobiCash app. SEC SDA has chosen to primarily use QR code donations, displaying QR codes on printed materials in their churches and, more recently due to COVID-19 restrictions, displaying them online during live services.
By scanning these codes, churchgoers can complete their donation in just a few clicks from the comfort of their homes. The service also gives SEC SDA the ability to collect Gift Aid, which adds 25 per cent to the overall value of each donation.
MobiCash has been developed by Compass Plus, an international provider of payments technology with over 30 years of experience in the payments industry, and has been fully integrated with RSM 2000 Ltd, a UK payment service provider for SMEs and the charity sector.
“We started using MobiCash before the pandemic broke out,” said SEC Treasurer, Candy Layson. “We find the team behind it to be very effective and friendly in trying to adjust the set-up according to our needs. We have found it even more useful in the current situation where church gatherings are prohibited. It allows remote donations to be made by our members at their own convenience.”
