The Times goes Mobile

Times Media has announced the launch of Times Mobile, a mobile Internet product that enables users to access news and views from The Times and The Sunday Times newspaper, and Times Online.
The new service, which launches next Monday, will include breaking news and views from The Times, The Sunday Times and Times Online; full business and sports coverage; arts and entertainment news and reviews; real-time football scores; and a searchable jobs section.
Times Media is targeting existing readers and users of its newspapers and websites, and will be marketed across The Times, The Sunday Times and Times Online. Times Mobile will also be promoted through search engines, ad networks and mobile partnerships with brands such as RIM, Nokia and O2 to attract new users.
Times Mobile will carry both display and classified advertising. Display advertisers will be able to utilise leader board positions with the ability to link to mobile-friendly websites and advertiser microsites at Times Online. In addition, it will carry advertisers single and multiple mobile microsites built by Times Media. Launch advertisers include IBM, which will promote the new series of podcasts The 12 Business Ideas that Changed the World which it is sponsoring in The Times and at Times Online.
At launch, mobile users will be able to search The Times Jobs database, read job descriptions of interest, and click to call if they want to apply. Further classified opportunities will be rolled out across other sectors following launch.
Times Media says the technology behind the product, which is provided by Buongiorno, is designed to provide all users with a high quality and fast browsing experience, replicating the experience of the Internet as closely as possible.
Times Mobile ensures that current and new customers will now be able to access our content on the move quickly and easily, says Times Media Digital Publishing Director, Zach Leonard. Equally, it will give our advertisers another route to our valuable audiences. If a user seeks news headlines or sports results, or wants to be entertained while killing time, or is searching for a job while on the move, Times Mobile makes it easy. It is yet another example of our strategy to deliver content in the most convenient way possible for our audiences.
