The Week in Mobile Marketing

Welcome to the highlights of another manic week in mobile. This week, we were mostly watching telly, or analysing it at least. Alex Spencer spent a fairly sad weekend watching X-Factor and I’m a Celebrity to see how much mobile-centric activity he could find in the ad breaks. Read how he got on here.
Kirsty Styles spoke to the CEO and founder of WyWy, the latest firm trying to grab a slice of the second-screen action. Check out the podcast here. And I took a closer look at Intel’s Shazam-powered TV ad campaign that scooped the award for Most Effective Mobile Advertising Campaign in our Effective Mobile Marketing Awards a couple of weeks ago. Find out why the judges were so impressed here.
Elsewhere, Instagram launched direct messaging; Snapchat trousered $50m;
and mobile messaging firm Esendex splashed the cash on its acquisition of self-service bulk SMS specialist, Text Marketer.
On top of all that, me and Alex also found time to nip down the pub for a swift one, paid for courtesy of the Orderella mobile ordering and payment app. And very nice it was too – the app that is. Check out the video here.
Have a great weekend, and stay tuned next week, when we’ll be getting all nostalgic and looking back at 2013.
