Thomson Inks Korean Deal

Digital video technology specialist Thomson has announced that it has signed a Mobile TV equipment delivery contract with Korean telco, SK Telecom. The contract includes both head-end products and Thomsons SmartVision Service Platform. SK Telecom will integrate the Thomson DVB-H Mobile TV solution with its Conditional Access system.
We chose Thomson for this major Mobile TV service deployment because were confident they can help us achieve our business goals quickly and can handle a system as complex as the one we will implement, says SK Telecom Senior Vice President, SeHyun Oh. The fact the content security is a main part of the SmartVision system well employ was also very important to us.
Since its establishment in 1984, SK Telecom has grown into a major player in the information communications industry, and currently provides quality wireless communications services to over 20 million customer, more than half of Korean local mobile subscribers. Thomson says the agreement with SK Telecom will enable it to increase its presence in the fast-growing Mobile TV market in Asia, and demonstrates its commitment to supporting wireless media business development in Asia.
