Mobile Commerce, which provides Location-based Services and mobile content integration, has announced the launch of the thomsonlocal.com app for Android in partnership with thomsonlocal.com, the local business search company.

The app allows the user to access thomsonlocal.com’s database of over 2m UK businesses on Android phones. It delivers detailed information for each business, along with thomsonlocal.com’s additional information, including ratings and reviews.

Users can select from the most popular categories and search for information on any business near their location or anywhere in the UK. Results can then be displayed as a list or on a map. Users are then given one-click access to several useful functions, including ‘Click-to-Call’; ‘Add Business as a Contact’; or ‘Send email’. Recent searches are also saved for repeat use.

“After the success of our mobile application for iPhone, it was only natural to bring thomsonlocal.com to users of Android Devices,” says thomsonlocal.com marketing director, Jill Pringle. “We are focused on becoming the only local media company that our customers need, so it is vital to ensure that we help our customers get found, no matter how people are searching for them.” 

The app is available for free download from Android Market.
