Three Per Cent of Mobile Web Usage Was on the iPhone 5, Three Weeks After Launch

The iPhone 5 accounted for three per cent of all mobile web usage less than three weeks after it first hit the shelves, according to research from Chitika Insights

That surpasses web usage on Samsungs Galaxy S3, which made up two per cent of usage during the same period, 3-9 October – at which point the S3 had been on the market for four months.

The research, based on an user agent analysis on millions of mobile ad impressions over the week period, also found that, across all of its iPhone devices, web usage on Apple handsets (46 per cent) far outstrips Samsungs (17 per cent).

Together, however, that means that only 37 per cent of mobile web usage comes from smartphones made by any other manufacturer.
